Fundraising Update
Grampian
Kidney Patients Association (GKPA) is an established charity that raises
money which is used to make life easier for all patients with renal
(kidney) failure in Grampian. The GKPA’s members are made up of medical
and administrative staff, people who have had transplants and those that
are on dialysis and awaiting a transplant.
Life
as a dialysis patient is gruelling and the money that the GKPA raise can
be used to buy things such as specialised equipment to make patients’
lives easier; provide small monetary donations to patients on a low income
to help with unexpected expenses like kennel/pet fees when facing a long
term stay in hospital and sponsoring patients who have had a transplant to
represent Grampian at the national Transplant Games.
This
year the staff’s nominated charity is GKPA and so far staff have raised
over £1000 since fundraising started at the end of last year. Events included a
bring & buy stall, coffee morning, raffles and a sponsored walk at Loch
Muick.
This success has been solely due to the tremendous fundraising
efforts by all staff.
Christmas
Card Competition
Shannon-Lee,
aged 10, from Peterhead, was the winner of our Christmas card competition
this year.She
won a Playstation II with Eye Toy 3. a copy of her lovely design is hown
below and was sent to al our tenants.
Two
runners up – Stephanie, age 8 from Fraserburgh and Beth, age 6 from
Arbroath won a DVD player.All entrants have received a little prize as a
token of thanks for the excellent standard and effort put in by the
children.
