Questions
& Answers
|
|
Q
What are adaptations? |
|
A
Adaptations are changes we will make to your property to suit
your abilities and allow you to use your home more easily. They may
allow you to live in your home for a longer time. |
|
Q
What sort of changes will you make? |
|
A
These range from handrails at doors or at the bath to special
kitchens or level access showers. |
|
Q
How do I get these done? |
|
A
We will carry out the smaller ones (handrails etc) ourselves,
simply ask us. Larger adaptations (showers, ramps etc.) require an
instruction from an Occupational Therapist, or another health
professional. |
|
Q
How do I find an Occupational Therapist? |
|
A
Normally through your doctor, but we can provide you with the
appropriate contacts if you wish. |
|
Q
How long will it take? |
|
A
The small adaptations can be done in ~2 weeks. The larger ones
often take several months after we obtain the instructions. |
|
Q
Why does it take so long? |
|
A
Because the larger adaptations are tailored to your needs, and
must be specified and costed before work can begin. Also sometimes the
parts are slow for the Contractor to get. |
|
Q
I would like a (higher fence, to keep my children in?), will you
do that for me? |
|
A
No. Unless the adaptation is related to a disability, we will not
this.
